Sarah Khabirpour is currently an independent director. She has over 18 years’ experience in legal, strategic and regulatory positions in the private and public sector. As Chief Compliance officer for the Banque de Luxembourg from 2017-2020, she focused on reinforcing the Compliance framework and department. Previously, she held positions as Head of Strategy, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing and Communication at the Banque Internationale du Luxembourg (BIL), and Policy Advisor and Premier Conseiller de Gouvernement at the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance (from 2009-2014). She began her career as an attorney, working at Linklaters, and later at the Luxembourg Ministry of Justice.
Sarah is a member of the Board of Directors of ICBC (Europe) SA and the Chair of its Audit and Compliance Committee. She is also the member of the Board of Directors of the International School of Luxembourg (ISL), serving as its Vice-Chair since 2020. Previously, she was a Board Member (and its Chair) of the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), Banque Internationale du Luxembourg (BIL), the Luxembourg Stock Exchange and Luxembourg for Finance.
Sarah has a law degree from the Sorbonne (Paris I) and a LLM from the London School of Economics & Political Science. She has a General Management degree from Harvard Business School and obtained the International Directors Programme certificate from INSEAD. She speaks English, French, German, Luxembourgish and Farsi.
