Jörg Heiser is a writer, curator, university teacher, and part-time musician. He is Director of the Institute for Art in Context at the University for the Arts in Berlin, Germany. For almost 20 years, he was on the editorial board of frieze magazine, for which he continues to write. He also writes occasionally for German-language news outlets Süddeutsche Zeitung, Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, and Die Republik. in 2008 he published the book All of a Sudden. Things That Matter in Contemporary Art (Sternberg Press), and Double Lives in Art and Pop Music (Sternberg Press) comes out in October 2019. Exhibitions he has curated include Funky Lessons (Büro Friedrich Berlin and Bawag Foundation Vienna 2004, catalogue), Romantic Conceptualism (Kunsthalle Nuremberg and Bawag Foundation Vienna 2007, catalogue), Fare Una Scenata (Fondazione Morragreco, Naples 2009, catalogue), and Hybrid Naples (Fondazione Morragreco, 2013/14). In 2016, Heiser curated the Nuit Blanche Monaco, and in 2018, he co-curated the Busan Biennale in South Korea. That same year, the band La Stampa, of which he is an active member, brought out the album Bonjour Trieste (Vinyl Factory, London).
