Carrie Hampel, (1972, Australia), is an interdisciplinary artist, writer and researcher based in Berlin since 1994. She has been creating performative and written works in interdisciplinary projects since the late 80s. (carriehampel.com) Carrie Hampel is an autodidact and has gained knowledge through self-initiated research and unusual life-experience – among other things, as a circus performer, nightclub bouncer, single mother of two, migrant, academic translator and actor on national German television (Hinter Gittern, 2001-2004). In 2004 Hampel started researching near-future scenarios for her novel, still in progress, enabling a macro-micro, global-local picture of the end of the fossil fuel age. Besides her own projects, Carrie Hampel works as a journalist on the topic of electric mobility and sustainable transport, and as a writer and researcher with the specialist fields of migration and geo-politics, for among others, for artists Emeka Ogboh and Peter Voss-Knude.
