Thinking Head was a decentralized artwork that implicitly mirrors the functioning of the human brain. Referencing Alighiero Boetti’s sculpture Mi fuma il cervello - My Brain is smoking (1993), a self-portrait whose head literally fumes, a vapor-producing machinery was installed on the roof of the Central Pavilion, so that a constant mist obscures its façade as if dissolving its cultural authority.
110-meter stainless steel pipes and flexible hoses arranged over the roof on metal stands, High-Efficient Nozzles Nephos 3-100 (approx. 980 pieces), two complete Pump Stations and a Water Tank arranged on the ground floor, Water Softener (Co2) and UV Lamp for Water Disinfection, remote control. Dimensions variable. Installation view at May You Live In Interesting Times, 58th Venice Biennale 2019, curated by Ralph Rugoff. With the additional support of Galleria Franco Noero, Turin and Nephos Swiss Fog, Switzerland.
